EcomAppReviews

For developers

Submit a Shopify app

Ask for an app to be listed, or for a listed app to be refreshed. Every app on the site is ranked by the same public formula over its real merchant reviews and listed pricing. There is no paid placement. Requests are reviewed by a person, and an approved app appears after the next refresh.

Read by a person. Submitting does not change the ranking.

Questions

Does submitting an app change where it ranks?

No. The position comes from the published formula only: a Bayesian rating with the category mean as prior, times the log of the review count, with a recency term. A submitted app gets the same treatment as one that was found through the App Store sitemap. The formula is on the methodology page.

Can I pay to be listed or featured?

No. There is no paid placement, no sponsored slot and no way to buy a position. The operator also publishes a Shopify app, and it is ranked by the same formula as everyone else.

The app is already listed but the numbers are old. What do I do?

Submit it anyway. When the handle is already on the site the request is treated as a refresh: once approved, the listing is read again at the next run and the page is rebuilt from the new rating, review count and pricing.

How long does it take?

A person reads every request, usually within a few days. Approved apps are picked up by the next refresh of the dataset, and the page appears after the build that follows. There is no confirmation e-mail, so check the page address shown after you submit.

What is a handle?

The last part of the App Store link. For apps.shopify.com/klaviyo-email-marketing the handle is klaviyo-email-marketing. The page on this site uses the same handle.

What happens with my e-mail address?

It is kept with the request so a reviewer can write back if something is unclear, and it is never published or shared. Your connection address is stored only as a hash, to limit how many requests one connection can send per hour.

Can I remove a review excerpt or correct a fact?

Yes. Use the note field, or the address on the About page. Review counts stay as Shopify displays them; a quoted excerpt can be suppressed, and listing facts are corrected at the next refresh.
