It pulls your orders and subtracts what reduces profit: marketplace fees, product cost, shipping, refunds, ad spend, subscriptions, and loan payments. A guided setup reads or writes Shopify's cost per item so profit is exact, and a shipping calculator prices each order the way suppliers actually bill.
